Interior Design Course Eligibility Overview

Interior Designing is a professional course which requires creativity, innovation, focus, vision, and basic technical skills. However, we need to know if we possess the basic interior design courses eligibility or not? The basic interior design eligibility includes:

  • Completion of 10+2 level education from a recognized board of education in India in any stream, or
  • Completion of 10+3 level education in case of pursuing any vocational course from any polytechnic


Diploma in Interior Design Course Eligibility

After completion of 10+2 level education, we can also apply for a Diploma Course in Interior Designing of various durations such as a 1-year diploma, 2-year diploma and 3-year diploma in Interior Designing. The eligibility for a diploma course in interior designing includes:

  • Should pass the 10+2 or equivalent exam from any recognized state or central board with a minimum of 50 per cent marks for general candidates and 40-45 per cent marks for students belonging to the reserved category without any backlog at the 10+2 level (in case of any backlog, such backlog needs to be cleared before application of admission form)
  • Fulfil any other specific requirement as specified by the institution or college of application
  • Submitting reservation certificate in case of students belonging to the Reserved Category duly issued by a competent authority
  • Qualify in the entrance examination, as may be prescribed by the institution or college where we are seeking admission.


Bachelors in Interior Design Eligibility:

After completion of 10+2 level education, the students can apply for a various degree or diploma courses in Interior Designing. In order to seek admission in degree-level courses in Interior Designing such as B.Sc. Interior Designing, B.Des. Interior Designing, and Bachelor in Interior Designing, we need to fulfil the basic eligibility criteria. Basic B.Sc. Interior Design eligibility, B.Des. Interior Design eligibility and Bachelor in Interior Design eligibility include:

  • Completion of 10+2 Level education with a minimum of 50 per cent marks. For students of the reserved category, there can be some relaxation of marks depending on the institution
  • In the case specified by the college or institution, clearing the entrance examination such as NATA or AIEED or any other entrance examination with qualifying marks as mentioned by the institute.


PG Diploma Interior Design Course Eligibility

Post Graduate (PG) Diploma in Interior Designing Course is a two-year course. PG Diploma in Interior Design Eligibility includes:

  • Relevant graduate degree in Interior Designing such as BA in Interior Design, B. Sc in Interior Design, B. Des in Interior Design or any other equivalent course with minimum qualifying marks of 55 per cent or above from a recognized college or university under the Indian education system.
  • Qualify in entrance examinations such as AIEED, NID DAT or any other such examination as prescribed by the college or institution


Masters in Interior Design Course Eligibility

Master in Interior Design is a post-graduate course in Interior Designing. Like any other master's degree in India, the master's in Interior Design eligibility as prescribed by the college or institution of choice needs to be understood carefully before filling up the application form. The eligibility for Masters's in Interior Design includes:

  • Completion of a full-time graduate degree in Interior Design from a recognized institute according to the government of India mandate with at least 50 to 55 per cent marks
  • Qualifying in the entrance examination such as CEED, NID DAT, AIEED, or any other such examination as prescribed by the concerned college or institution


MBA in Interior Design Course Eligibility

MBA in Interior Designing is again a postgraduate course of two years, just like Masters in Interior Designing or Masters in Designing and Communication. The eligibility for MBA in Interior Designing includes:

  • Completion of at least a recognized Bachelor’s degree in any stream from a recognized institution, college, or university with a minimum of 45 to 50 per cent marks
  • Qualifying in the entrance examination, as prescribed by the college or institution of choice, in case, admission is not merely based on merit (depending on the marks obtained in 10+2)


M.Sc. in Interior Design Course Eligibility

M.Sc. in Interior Design, just like Masters in Interior Design or MBA in Interior Design is a postgraduate course of two years. This course helps us in specializing in concepts of interior designing further. M. Sc. Interior Design eligibility includes:

  • Completion of full-time bachelor's degree in subjects such as Designing, Architecture, Garment Technology, Fashion Technology, Interior Designing, Applied Arts and Crafts and such subjects with a minimum score of 50 to 55 per cent marks
  • Qualifying an entrance examination as prescribed by the college or institution of choice


PhD in Interior Design Course Eligibility

PhD in Interior Designing is a research degree that helps us in specializing in the field of Interior designing concepts. Though the course is being offered by various institutions or universities across the country, PhD in Interior Design eligibility to pursue the course in a given college, institution, or university should be understood well.
